# How and when are refunds paid?

A refund goes back to the card that paid, and a credit note is made for it in Stripe. It can take 5 to 10 business days to show on your statement; how long it takes is up to your bank. The VAT goes back in proportion. The Vault's page lists the payment under **Payments** with `on its way back` and the amount until Stripe reports the refund as done, and with `paid back` after.
