How the Help Center and FAQ work: the search box, Start here and topics, the question filter, and the Was this article helpful? box under each guide.

The Help Center is the set of guides at `www.panoramr.com/help`, and the FAQ at `www.panoramr.com/about/faq` is its list of short answers. Anyone can read them without an account. This page lists each part of them: what it does, and what you see.

**Who can use it.** Everybody, signed in or not. Nothing on these pages needs a plan. A guide that only makes sense while a feature is switched on (the Try page, the Designs gallery) is hidden while that feature is off, and it is left out of the search too.

**Two ways to find a page.** Type in the search box, or browse by topic. Both lead to the same guides. The FAQ has its own filter.

## The front page

### Search help articles

A search box at the top of the Help Center, and in a smaller form on the guide and topic pages. It finds guides and FAQ answers while you type.

On the front page it is one box for searching and asking. While the help service is available, the box shows matching sections as you type, and **Ask** (or Enter) shows the best answer in full above the other results. While the service cannot be reached, the box is the search described below.

**Where:** [Help Center](https://www.panoramr.com/help), the box under **How can we help?**. Everywhere.
**Default:** Empty.
**What it does:** From two letters on, up to six suggestions appear under the box, each marked as a guide or a question with its topic. The up and down arrows move through them, Enter opens the one you are on, and Escape closes the list (a second Escape empties the box). With no suggestion chosen, Enter shows every result for what you typed. Press `/` anywhere on the page, when you are not typing in a field, to put the cursor in the box. What you type is cut to its first 120 characters. The search matches the title and keywords most, then the headings, the description and the text, and it forgives a plural or a small typo.
**What visitors see:** The suggestions, or the page of results. A page that has every word comes first; at most five pages that have only some of the words come after it, under the heading "Pages with some of your words". When nothing matches, the page says so and offers topics and popular questions. Under the results a link, **Tell us what you were looking for**, opens the contact form with your words in it.
**Related:** [Contact page](https://www.panoramr.com/help/contact-page).

### Example questions

A row of buttons under the search box that show what you could ask.

**Where:** [Help Center](https://www.panoramr.com/help), under the search box.
**Default:** Five questions, such as "How do I embed a tour on my website?".
**What it does:** Pressing one asks it in the box above, as if you had typed it.
**What visitors see:** The answer under the box, or, while the help service cannot be reached, the results page for that question.
**Related:** **Search help articles**.

### Start here

The first guides to read, numbered in order.

**Where:** [Help Center](https://www.panoramr.com/help), the section **Start here**. It only shows when at least one guide is marked for it.
**Default:** Up to four guides.
**What it does:** Lists them in order, each with its title and one sentence.
**What visitors see:** Four numbered cards on the front page. Opening one shows the guide.
**Related:** [Create your first tour](https://www.panoramr.com/help/how-to-create-your-first-360-virtual-tour).

### Browse by topic

One tile for each group of guides.

**Where:** [Help Center](https://www.panoramr.com/help), the section **Browse by topic**. A group with nothing to show has no tile.
**Default:** Every group that has at least one guide or FAQ answer.
**What it does:** Each tile has the group's name and how many pages it holds (guides and FAQ answers together). Opening a tile lists its guides and its questions.
**What visitors see:** The group page, with the other groups in a list beside it. A guide page repeats the groups in a list called "All topics" on a wide window.
**Related:** **Search help articles**.

### Popular questions

The FAQ answers people look at most.

**Where:** [Help Center](https://www.panoramr.com/help), the section **Popular questions**. Also on the results page when nothing was found.
**Default:** Up to six, chosen by Panoramr.
**What it does:** Each line opens that answer in the FAQ. **All questions** opens the whole FAQ.
**What visitors see:** The FAQ page, scrolled to that answer and with it open.
**Related:** **Filter the questions**.

## The FAQ

### Filter the questions

A box above the FAQ that hides the questions that do not match.

**Where:** [FAQ](https://www.panoramr.com/about/faq), the box **Filter the questions**.
**Default:** Empty, so every question shows.
**What it does:** It asks the same search as the Help Center, for questions only, and hides the rest. A group with no match is hidden too. A cross in the box clears it. If the search cannot be reached, the filter does nothing and every question stays.
**What visitors see:** A shorter list. When nothing matches, the page says "No question matches" what you typed and links to the contact form.
**Related:** **Search help articles**.

### Open all

Opens or closes every answer on the FAQ page at once.

**Where:** [FAQ](https://www.panoramr.com/about/faq), the buttons **Open all** and **Close all**.
**Default:** Every answer closed.
**What it does:** Opens or closes each answer on the page.
**What visitors see:** A long page when everything is open. A link such as `www.panoramr.com/about/faq#some-question` opens that answer and scrolls to it.
**Related:** **Filter the questions**.

## A guide

### On this page

A list of the headings of the guide you are reading.

**Where:** [Any guide](https://www.panoramr.com/help), in the left column on a wide window and as a folded list above the text on a narrow one. It shows when the guide has three or more main headings.
**Default:** Built from the guide's headings.
**What it does:** Each line jumps to a heading.
**What visitors see:** The guide scrolls to the heading. Code in a guide has a **Copy** button beside it.
**Related:** **Next steps**.

### Next steps

The pages that follow on from the guide.

**Where:** [Any guide](https://www.panoramr.com/help), under the text. Only when the guide names related pages.
**Default:** Up to six pages chosen by the guide's writer.
**What it does:** Lists them as links.
**What visitors see:** A short list of titles under the guide.
**Related:** **Was this article helpful?**.

### About this feature

A link to the website's page about the feature the guide explains.

**Where:** [A guide](https://www.panoramr.com/help), under the text, when one of the website's [feature pages](https://www.panoramr.com/features) links to this guide or to another guide about the same feature.
**Default:** Shown when there is such a page.
**What it does:** Opens that feature page.
**What visitors see:** `About this feature:` and the page's name.
**Related:** **Next steps**.

### Videos

The short film the editor's Help button plays for this part of the app, with what it says written out.

**Where:** [A guide](https://www.panoramr.com/help) that the editor's or the account's Help button opens, under the text.
**Default:** The film does not play until you press play.
**What it does:** Plays the film, captions drawn in. **Transcript** under it opens the words it says.
**What visitors see:** The film, its title and length, and **Transcript**.
**Related:** **About this feature**.

Two buttons at the bottom of every guide that tell Panoramr whether the page answered your question.

**Where:** [Any guide](https://www.panoramr.com/help), under **Next steps**. The FAQ does not have it.
**Default:** Not answered.
**What it does:** **Yes** or **No** is sent at once. After a **No**, a box asks **What was missing or wrong?**; a note is optional, can be sent once, within two hours of the answer, and can be up to 600 characters. Panoramr keeps the answer, the note, the guide's name and the day the guide was last checked, for a year. It does not keep your name, address, account or browser with it, and the box sets no cookie of its own. Please leave personal details out of the note. If a note arrives too late, the answer is still kept and the box says so.
**What visitors see:** A thank-you in place of the buttons. If the answer cannot be saved, "We could not save that. Please try again." appears. Too many answers from one connection in a short time are refused, with a message to try again in a few minutes.
**Related:** [Contact page](https://www.panoramr.com/help/contact-page).

### Still need help?

A panel at the end of every guide that opens the contact form.

**Where:** [Any guide](https://www.panoramr.com/help), at the bottom, with the button **Contact support**. The front page has the same panel under **Cannot find it?**.
**Default:** Always shown.
**What it does:** Opens the [contact page](https://www.panoramr.com/contact). From a guide, it adds the guide's name, so the team can see which page you were on.
**What visitors see:** The contact form. From a guide, the first line of the message is filled in with the guide's name and address; from the front page the form opens empty.
**Related:** [Contact page](https://www.panoramr.com/help/contact-page).

## For tools that read text

Each guide is also at its own address with `.md` added (`www.panoramr.com/help/the-help-center.md`, with the words of its videos at the end), the FAQ is at `www.panoramr.com/about/faq.md`, and `www.panoramr.com/llms-full.txt` holds all the guides in one text file. They are plain text for AI assistants and other readers that do not run a page. The text is the same; links are written out in full and our email address is replaced by a pointer to the contact page. What an assistant does with them is outside our control.

## Troubleshooting

**The search suggests nothing.** Type at least two letters, and check that the box has focus. If the page cannot reach the search it shows no list; press Enter to search the whole Help Center.

**A guide I had open is gone.** The address of a guide that was renamed or removed sends you to the page that now answers it. An address that never existed shows a "not found" page.

**The box under a guide says "We could not save that".** The connection broke or the guide is no longer there. Try again in a moment. If it says there are too many answers, you pressed the buttons many times in a short while: wait a few minutes.

**I cannot find my question.** Try fewer or different words ("embed" instead of "put my tour on my site"), or use **Contact support**.
