Cookie banner and Cookie settings: what you can choose

The cookie banner and the Cookie settings window: what Analytics and Embedded video mean, what each button does, and where to change your answer.

Reference5 min read Updated

On this page

The first time you open a Panoramr page, a banner at the foot of the page asks whether Panoramr may use two things that need your permission: Google Analytics, and playing YouTube and Vimeo videos in tours without asking each time. Nothing is switched on until you switch it on, and refusing is as easy as accepting. This page lists the banner's buttons, the Cookie settings window and what each choice does. The words of the policy are in the Cookie Policy.

Who can use it. Every visitor, signed in or not, on every plan.

What needs no permission. Cookies that keep the site working are always on and are not in the choices: signing in, keeping you signed in, security, and your choice of light or dark look.

How long your answer lasts. Panoramr saves it in one cookie, panoramr_consent, for 180 days (about six months), and then asks again. The cookie is shared by www.panoramr.com, pro.panoramr.com, app.panoramr.com and hosting.panoramr.com, so one answer is enough for all of them. A tour that is on another domain (embedded in a customer's website, for instance) cannot see it, so its videos wait until you press play.

The banner

The banner is a region headed by the words Panoramr uses cookies that keep the site working. and has a link to the Cookie Policy. It stays until you answer. Closing the settings window is not an answer.

Choose

Pick your answers one by one.

Where: the left button of the banner. Default: Not applicable. What it does: Opens the Cookie settings window with both switches off. What visitors see: The window. Needs: Nothing. Related: Save choices.

Reject all

Say no to everything that needs permission.

Where: the banner, and the foot of the Cookie settings window. Default: Not applicable. What it does: Saves a no to Analytics and to Embedded video, and closes the banner. If Google's tag was running, it is stopped and the cookies it left on this site are deleted. What visitors see: Nothing is sent to Google. A YouTube or Vimeo video in a tour shows a play button first. Needs: Nothing. Related: Accept all.

Accept all

Say yes to both.

Where: the banner, and the foot of the Cookie settings window. It looks the same as Reject all. Default: Not applicable. What it does: Saves a yes to Analytics and to Embedded video, and closes the banner. Google's tag starts at once, on the page you are on. What visitors see: Panoramr's pages are counted with Google Analytics. Videos from YouTube and Vimeo in tours play without the extra press. Needs: Nothing. Related: Reject all.

Change your answer later.

Where: the link Cookie settings in the footer of the website, in the account menu when you are signed in (and in the phone menu), and under the page on the social site. Default: Opens with the switches showing your last answer. What it does: Opens the window, which lists Strictly necessary (always on), Analytics and Embedded video, with Reject all, Accept all and Save choices. What visitors see: The window. Needs: Nothing. Related: Save choices.

Analytics

Let Google Analytics count visits to Panoramr's pages.

Where: a switch in the Cookie settings window. Default: Off. What it does: Google Analytics counts visits to Panoramr's pages, to see what people use. Nothing is sent to Google until you allow it. Before a yes the page has no Google code at all. On a yes the tag is added once the page has loaded. Switching it off again stops the tag and deletes the cookies it left. What visitors see: Nothing changes on the page. Needs: Nothing. Counting is set up only on the live site. Related: Embedded video.

Embedded video

Let YouTube and Vimeo videos in tours play without asking each time.

Where: a switch in the Cookie settings window. Default: Off. What it does: Videos from YouTube and Vimeo in tours play without asking each time. Playing one loads that site, which may set cookies and see your address. With it off, such a video shows a button, such as Play video from YouTube, and loads nothing from that site until you press it. YouTube is loaded from its no-cookie address and Vimeo with its do-not-track setting. A video file that Panoramr stores itself (an MP4) is not affected. What visitors see: In a tour, a play button instead of the video until you press it, or the video at once. Needs: Nothing. Related: Embed a YouTube or Vimeo video.

Save choices

Keep the switches as you set them.

Where: the right button of the Cookie settings window. Default: Not applicable. What it does: Saves what Analytics and Embedded video show and closes the window. What visitors see: The page keeps going as it was. Needs: Nothing. Related: Reject all, Accept all.

What Panoramr does not ask about

Not asked Why
Signing in, the security check, your light or dark choice They keep the site working or are your own choice.
Fonts and map tiles They set no cookies, but the company serving them sees your IP address.
A video file stored by Panoramr It is Panoramr's own storage, not another company's page.
A web page in an embedded frame It is whatever address the tour's owner gave, and that page's own business.

Troubleshooting

The banner keeps coming back. Your browser is blocking cookies, or the 180 days have passed. The answer is kept in a cookie; without it Panoramr cannot remember.

I said yes and want to take it back. Open Cookie settings, switch the choice off and click Save choices.

I answered on one site and it asks on another. A tour embedded in a customer's website is on another domain and does not see your answer there.
