Accessibility in a tour: linear view, keyboard and reduced motion
Show the accessibility icon that opens a text view of your tour, and see what keyboard users, screen readers and reduced-motion settings get.

The short answer
Every tour has a plain text version: each room's picture, name, description, links and info text. Keyboard users reach it first: Text version of this tour is the first thing Tab gets to once a room opens. Tick Accessibility Line in the Top Nav Bar - Dropdown and every visitor also gets an icon that opens it. The icon is off for a new tour; a tour made before 2026-09-30 already has it on, so look at the box before you tick it. Keyboard users can Tab to hotspots and turn the view with the arrow keys, and a visitor whose device asks for less motion gets instant cuts between rooms and a tour that does not turn by itself.
This page says what the player does. We have not tried a tour with a screen reader, and nothing here claims that a tour meets an accessibility standard.
Show the accessibility icon
The owner and, by default, an Admin collaborator can do this.
- Open the tour's Design tab. Under Component Modules click Top Nav Bar - Dropdown.
- Click Arrange & Toggle Top Icons to open the list, and tick Accessibility Line (a tour made before 2026-09-30 already has it ticked, so look at the box first). Keep Show Title Bar ticked. The list is there in both the Basic and the Advanced view.
- Click Save & Render. The icon's tooltip is
Accessibility Linear View.
The icon is also in two other modules:
| Module | What to tick | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Icon Bar | Enable Icon Bar, then Accessibility Mode under Arrange & Toggle Elements | Off, and the bar is off |
| Top Nav Bar - Multi Menu | Accessibility Line under Arrange & Toggle Icons | Off |
If you untick Show Title Bar and leave Just Icons ticked, the icons ticked under Arrange & Toggle Top Icons float on their own at the top right, the accessibility icon among them when Accessibility Line is ticked. With Just Icons unticked too there is no icon at all.
Without any icon, a keyboard user reaches the view through Text version of this tour, a link that shows in the middle of the tour only while it has focus, and anybody can open it by adding ?accessibility=true to the player address: https://hosting.panoramr.com/projects/<number>/serve?accessibility=true.
What the linear view shows
A plain page with a section for each published room, in tour order. The icon opens it on the same address, and a link at the top, Return to 360 virtual tour, goes back.
- At the top: the tour's name, the return link, and a
Skip to contentlink that appears when it has keyboard focus. - For each room: its name as a heading, its description and a list headed
Interactive Hotspots in this room:(only when the room has link or info hotspots). A link hotspot isGo to: <room>, a link to that room's section. An info hotspot isInfo (<title>): <text>. Above the list is the room's picture: its thumbnail, described asPanorama of <room>. - Not listed: video hotspots, Surface Media, the floor plan, the map and the menus.
- Limits: a room's picture shows only if the page can load it, and the room's text stays if it cannot. The page's own words, such as
Go to:, are English only. The names and texts come from the tour. - Downloads: a downloaded copy has no linear view. Its icon reloads the same page (download a tour).
Keyboard and screen readers
| Key or part | What happens |
|---|---|
| Tab | Moves through the buttons of the bars and the room's hotspots. The focused item gets an orange outline. |
| Enter or Space | Opens or follows the focused hotspot. |
| Esc | Closes the open popup. In a popup that is a dialog, Tab stays inside it. |
| Arrow keys | Turn the view while the picture area, or a hotspot in it, has focus. Elsewhere they do what they always do. |
| Plus and minus | Zoom in and out, on the main keyboard and the keypad, while the picture area has focus. |
| W A S D | Do nothing. |
| The picture area | Can take focus, with an indigo outline, and gets it back after each room change. Its first Tab stop is Text version of this tour. |
For a screen reader the picture area is labeled 3D Panorama: <description or name>, and each room change is announced as Entered panorama: <room>. A link hotspot is named Go to <room>, and an info hotspot by its title, or Information Hotspot when it has none. The words come from Panoramrs Name and Panoramrs Description on the Panoramrs tab, and from hotspot titles. A picture in an info hotspot uses the alt text you save in the Asset Library.
Reduced motion
The player reads the visitor's device setting prefers-reduced-motion: reduce. Panoramr has no setting for it. When it is on:
- Moving to another room is an instant cut, whatever Scene Switch Styling and Fade Duration (ms) say.
- A hotspot's Idle Animation and Entrance Animation do not run, and hover effects and popups change at once instead of animating.
- The Top Nav Bar - Multi Menu's own transitions are off.
- The tour does not turn by itself, whatever Autorotate on Idle says. Where the tour shows the Autorotate button, it starts switched off, and the visitor can still switch turning on (auto-rotate).
Who sees it
- Free plan. A tour in a free theme, the Default Theme, shows visitors your design on its public page and in embeds. A tour in a Pro theme that has never been hosted shows the free Default look, and a free download is the Standard design: neither has an accessibility icon in the top bar. The address above still works on its public page. A paid plan, or a Vault that hosts the tour or has hosted it, gives visitors your design in any theme. The editor, the Preview tab and the Design page always show your design.
- Refresh. Save & Render refreshes the stored copy that visitors get, unless Draft Workflows is on: then nothing reaches visitors until you click Publish Changes (when changes show).
- Layout and Explore. The icon belongs to the player's default tour layout; the bare
marzipanolayout has none. The Explore page loads the player only after a visitor clicks the play button on its picture.
Troubleshooting
There is no accessibility icon. Check that Accessibility Line and Show Title Bar are ticked and that you clicked Save & Render. If the tour wears a Pro theme, has never been hosted and the account is on a Free plan, visitors get the free Default look, which has none.
The arrow keys do not turn the view. The picture area needs focus first: click it, or press Tab until the outline is round the picture. A tour opens with it focused, and gets it back after each room change.
The linear view has no pictures. The page hides a picture it cannot load, and the text and links are there. A stored copy made before 2026-10-06 asks for a picture a tiled panorama does not have: click Save & Render (or Publish Changes) to refresh it.
The tour still turns although I asked my device for less motion. Click the Autorotate button if the tour shows one: it was switched on by hand. For a tour that should always stay still, untick Autorotate on Idle.
