What each tab in the tour editor does

A tour opens in an editor with six tabs in the Basic view and ten in Advanced. What each tab is for, what the switch changes, and which tabs a collaborator has.

The tab row

Open a tour from My Tours and a row of tabs runs under its name. In the Basic view it has six: Tour, Panoramrs, Hotspots, Design, Preview and Publish. The Advanced view adds Floor Plans, Assets, Settings and Analytics, for ten in all, and the switch between the two is at the right end of the row (see Basic and Advanced). Each tab is one page of the editor for that tour. The Design tab, the Settings tab and the Overview pane of the Publish tab have their own save buttons (Save & Render, Save Properties and Save Settings); the Panoramrs tab saves as you go and says Saved automatically.

The tour's name with the row of ten tabs under it, from Tour to Publish, and the Basic and Advanced switch at the right end with Advanced selected; the open tab, Tour, is underlined in blue

Basic and Advanced

The two buttons at the right end of the tab row, Basic and Advanced, set how much of the editor you see. Basic keeps what a first tour needs: adding panoramas, placing hotspots, choosing a design and publishing. Advanced shows every tab and every option. The choice is saved on your account, so it follows you to other devices. A new account starts in Basic, and so does a free trial tour. An account that existed before the switch was added started in Advanced. In Basic, the words More tabs and options in Advanced stand beside the switch (More in Advanced on a phone).

The switch changes what is shown and nothing else. A value you set in Advanced stays as it is while you are in Basic, and no permission changes. Four rules:

  • The tab you open is always in the row. A link to a tab that Basic leaves out, such as the Settings icon on a tour's row in My Tours or the link in a transfer email, opens it, and its tab shows while you are there.
  • On a tour someone shared with you, Basic keeps your tabs. You get the tabs your role gives (see below). Basic still trims the options inside them.
  • What is switched on stays in view. The draft controls and the Editing: list stay on the tab row in Basic. A hotspot that already has a variant Basic does not list keeps it in its list, and a surface media hotspot that is already placed shows all its fields.
  • You can still delete a tour in Basic. Move to Trash is in the Danger Zone of the Settings tab, and the foot of the Tour tab has Move this tour to the Trash (a guest tour has Delete this tour).

What each view keeps:

Tab Basic Advanced adds
Tour The name, the status with the tour's views (12 views, once it is published or has been seen), Save Changes, the description and the thumbnail; the scene and the actions of each row of the Panoramas table; Add Panoramr; the trash of deleted scenes; Move this tour to the Trash Tour Link (Vanity URL) and Showcase Category (Basic has the category on Publish), Mark as featured tour, and the Group and Date columns of the table
Panoramrs The list with Upload Panoramrs and the search box; the name, Group Selection, the description, Set Initial View and Replace Original File; the Panorama Media tab and Tour media Image Adjustments, Latitude and Longitude with the map, the Geometry Core card, Custom Thumbnail and Camera Metadata (EXIF)
Hotspots Add Infotation, Add Link Hotspot and Set Initial View; a link's Target Panorama and Target Camera View; an info hotspot's Variant (Use Global Setting, Classic Panel, Modern Tooltip, Video, Image Gallery, Audio Narration (Play/Pause) and External Web Link), title and content; undo and redo Add Surface Media, the other five variants, Open in Media Window and Thumbnail Position for an Image Gallery, Color Override, Share with other Tours, Hotspot Preset and Show as in Theme
Design The options most tours need: colors and font, which parts of the player show and where, and scene transitions (it opens on Global Aesthetics) The other options, and the panels Themes, Hotspots Setup (how hotspots look), Pan and Zoom Controls, Mobile Navigation, Media Window and Floorplan Minimap
Preview Everything Nothing
Publish Overview with Publish to Global Showcase and Web Embed Code; Hosting; Download The Google Street View pane, and Hide Tripod Cap (Nadir Patch) and Hide Startup Splash Screen while they say Needs hosting (once the tour is hosted without Panoramr's branding they stay in Basic)
Floor Plans, Assets, Settings and Analytics Not in the row The whole tab

What each tab is for

Tab What it is for
Tour The tour's front page. Edit its name, Tour Link (Vanity URL), Showcase Category, Description and thumbnail (Change Thumbnail). A badge shows whether it is a Draft or published. The Panoramas table lists the scenes in order: drag a row to reorder, open a scene's details or hotspots, or delete it. Add Panoramr adds photos. Deleted scenes wait under Trash (Deleted Panoramas). Move this tour to the Trash at the foot moves the whole tour to your trash.
Panoramrs One scene at a time. Panorama List on the left has Upload Panoramrs, a search box and drag-to-reorder; Image Adjustments is the second tab there. Below the picture are the scene's name, group, description, Latitude and Longitude, Replace Original File, Custom Thumbnail and Camera Metadata (EXIF). Set Initial View saves where visitors start looking.
Floor Plans Advanced view. Upload floor plan images with Upload Floor Plan, click a plan to add a pin and pair it with a scene, and use Calibrate Radar on the plan.
Assets Advanced view. The files uploaded for this tour (images, video and audio) and its floor plans. Upload Assets adds files; deleted ones wait under Trash (Deleted Assets). The Asset Library in the account menu covers all your tours.
Hotspots Choose a scene, then add what visitors can click: Add Infotation (information), Add Link Hotspot (go to another scene) and Add Surface Media. Hotspot Properties on the right edits the selected hotspot, and Set Initial View is here too.
Design How the tour looks. A list of panels on the left (Themes, Hotspots Setup, Global Aesthetics, Top Nav Bar - Dropdown and more) and a live preview. The Basic and Advanced switch in the tab row, which also drives this tab, shows the essentials or every option; hiding an option never changes its saved value. Save & Render saves.
Preview The tour in a frame, as a visitor sees it, at desktop, tablet or phone size (the three icon buttons have the tooltips Desktop View, Tablet View and Mobile View). It shows your latest edits even when Draft Workflows is on, and its visits are not counted.
Settings Advanced view. Tour Identity (name, theme, description), Tour Languages, Publishing Strategy with Enable Draft Workflows, Panorama Groups, Project Collaborators (owner only) with Hand over to a client (shown while Vaults are on sale; see Hand a tour over to a client), and the Danger Zone with Move to Trash (by default the owner alone sees it).
Analytics Advanced view. The tour's views: All-Time Unique Views, Geographic Reach, Daily Engagement and Top Performing Rooms. Your totals for every tour are under Global Analytics in the account menu.
Publish Four panes: Overview (Publish to Global Showcase, Web Embed Code, Hide Tripod Cap (Nadir Patch) and Hide Startup Splash Screen, greyed out until the tour is hosted), Hosting (a Vault or your plan's hosting, whether the tour is published, and your own branding), Google Street View and Download.

Who sees which tab

The owner of a tour sees all ten tabs in the Advanced view and six in Basic. People you share a tour with get a role under Project Collaborators, and the role decides the tabs, in either view:

  • Viewer: Tour, Preview and Analytics.
  • Editor: those three, plus Panoramrs, Floor Plans, Assets and Hotspots.
  • Admin: everything an Editor has, plus Design, Settings and Publish.

These are the defaults. The owner can change them on the Client Workspaces page, which is in My Account. That page has no switch for the Assets tab, so after the owner saves it, Editors and Admins no longer get Assets.

Other things on the tab row

  • Editing: appears when the tour has extra languages (Tour Languages on the Settings tab, in the Advanced view). It chooses the language you are typing text in, and it stays on the row in Basic.
  • Draft Mode Active and Publish Changes appear when Enable Draft Workflows is on, in either view.
  • A red notice appears under the tabs if our team has taken the tour offline.

Troubleshooting

A tab I expect is missing. If you own the tour, you may be in the Basic view: click Advanced at the right end of the row, and Floor Plans, Assets, Settings and Analytics come back, with every option Basic leaves out. Nothing was removed. If someone shared the tour with you, your role may not include the tab: see the list above, and ask the tour's owner. The Branding page has no tab (see below).

There is no Branding tab. Your own logo and words for the patch that covers the tripod are on a Branding page that opens from the Hosting pane of the Publish tab, with Add your logo and words, once the tour is hosted. Hide Tripod Cap (Nadir Patch) and Hide Startup Splash Screen are on the Overview pane.

The Preview tab looks different from the public tour. On a Free plan a tour in a Pro theme shows the free Default look on its public page (see the note above), unless the tour has been hosted. With Draft Workflows on, the public page also stays as it was until you click Publish Changes, while Preview shows your latest edits.
