The Info & Media Panel: a room's text, pictures, videos and more
Give each room, and the whole tour, its own pictures, videos, sound and documents, and show them with the room's text in a panel at the foot of the tour.

The short answer
The Info & Media Panel is a bar at the foot of the tour. For the room a visitor is in it shows the room's text first, then its pictures, videos, sound and documents, each as a small tile. Add the media on the Panoramrs tab: each panorama has a Panorama Media tab above it, and Tour media at the top of the list holds the media of the whole tour. Then switch the panel on in Design, under Info & Media Panel.
Who can do it and what it needs
- The owner, and collaborators whose role includes the Panoramrs tab: Editors and Admins by default (what each tab does). Switching the panel on needs the Design tab.
- Any plan. The files come from the tour owner's asset library and count against its storage.
- The panel is part of the standard player design. While it is on, Bottom Nav - Thumbnails is off: the panel takes its place.
Add media to a room
- Open the tour and click the Panoramrs tab, then click a panorama in the list.
- Above the panorama, click Panorama Media (the other tab is Panorama Settings). It holds the room's description, which the panel shows first, and four cards: Pictures, Videos, Sound and Documents.
- Click Add a picture, Add a video file, Add a sound or Add a PDF or text file. The library opens with only files of that kind; click one, or click Upload new to add a file from your computer.
- For a YouTube or Vimeo video, paste its address in the box under Videos and click Add.
- Type a name for each item, and for pictures and documents a caption if you like. Each change is saved as you make it, and
Savedshows for a moment. - Use the arrows beside an item, or drag it, to change the order. The bin removes it from the room (the file stays in your library).
The media belongs to the panorama, as its hotspots do: if the same panorama is in another tour, its media shows there too. A panorama with media says how many in the list ("3 media").
| Kind | What it can be | What visitors get |
|---|---|---|
| Pictures | A JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or SVG from the library | A tile with the picture; a click opens it large |
| Videos | An MP4 file, or a YouTube or Vimeo address | A tile with a play mark; a click plays it in the media window |
| Sound | An MP3 or WAV file | A tile with a play button and the length; it plays right there |
| Documents | A PDF or a text file | A tile with the file's kind; a click opens it in a new browser tab |
Each room, and the tour, holds up to 50 of each kind. Word and Excel files cannot be chosen: a browser would only download them.
Media for the whole tour
Click Tour media at the top of the panorama list. The viewer makes way for the same Media panel, this time for the tour itself. Visitors reach it from any room with the chip on the right of the panel: This room or Whole tour. The whole tour's text is the tour's description, set on the Settings tab.
A room with nothing of its own opens the panel on the whole tour's media, and the chip only shows when the tour has text or media of its own.
Switch the panel on
- Open the Design tab and click Info & Media Panel in the list of modules.
- Tick the switch at the top. Bottom Nav - Thumbnails switches off, and its own module says why. Ticking it on again switches the panel off.
- Choose the settings below, and click Save & Render.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| When the Tour Opens | Closed leaves a small "Info & media" tab at the foot of the tour; Open shows the panel straight away |
| Maximum Width | How wide the panel is, as for Bottom Nav - Thumbnails |
| When a Room Has No Text or Media | Show the rooms (at first) opens the panel on every room's thumbnail, like Bottom Nav - Thumbnails, so visitors can always move between rooms; Hide the panel leaves it out in such a room |
| Show a Panoramas tab | Adds the rooms' thumbnails as a tab in every room, not only the empty ones. Off at first |
| Tab Labels | Text and icon, text only, or icons only (each icon keeps its name as a tooltip and for screen readers). In Advanced mode |
What visitors see
- About comes first and is where the panel opens: the room's name and description, with a short list beside it ("4 pictures, 2 videos") that jumps to those tabs. Without a description the panel opens on the first tab that has something.
- Then a tab for each kind the room has, with a count. A kind the room has none of has no tab.
- The buttons on the right open what the panel shows in a larger window (the text at a size to read, with the pictures, videos, sounds and documents as its tabs), or close the panel.
- A picture or a video opens the media window, which shows it large with arrows, a strip of the others and "2 of 4". The window also has the room's (or the tour's) sound and documents as lists. The left and right arrow keys move through the pictures and videos.
- Sound plays one at a time and stops when the visitor moves to another room or opens a video.
- On a phone the panel takes the whole width, above the bottom bar.
- Bottom Nav - Thumbnails stays off while the panel is on. A room with no text or media of its own opens the panel on the rooms' thumbnails instead (unless When a Room Has No Text or Media is Hide the panel); when the tour has text or media of its own, the room opens on that, with the rooms beside it.
- A panel with nothing at all to show (one room, no text, no media, or the rooms hidden) is left out for visitors. In the Design preview it still shows, with a note saying what to add, so you can see it is on.
When the change shows
A change to a room's or the tour's media shows on the published tour straight away, unless the tour publishes drafts: then it shows when you publish. The panel itself is a design setting, so it shows after Save & Render in Design (when changes show).
A downloaded tour carries its pictures, videos, sounds and documents, so the panel works offline. YouTube and Vimeo videos still need the internet.
Deleting a file that a panel shows
A file the panel shows cannot be deleted from the library without a warning that names where it is used ("Room 3 (in Tour: Grand Hotel): pictures"). If a file goes from the library anyway, the panel leaves it out, and the Media panel says so in yellow, so you can remove it or add it again.
