Free publishing, plan hosting or a Vault: where your tour lives

The three places a tour can be published, what each gives, how many panoramas each holds, and what the messages mean when a tour does not fit.

The short answer

A tour is published in one of three places, and each gives the visitor something different. Free publishing puts the tour on Explore with Panoramr's branding, on any account, in a free theme, and it can be embedded on other websites. Plan hosting is part of the Pro, Agency and Enterprise plans: no branding, any theme, private or by link. A Vault is hosting you buy for one tour, with or without a plan. A tour is in one place at a time. If it is in a Vault, the Vault hosts it; if not, plan hosting does; if not, free publishing.

How long as long as the account as long as the plan the term you paid for

Plan hosting and a Vault count panoramas, not tours. Free publishing counts panoramas and tours (up to 10). A tour of 40 panoramas uses 40. A panorama that is in two hosted tours counts in both. There is no limit on how many panoramas one tour can hold: only the account's total, and the place the tour is published.

A tour goes into a place as a whole. If it has more panoramas than there is room for, it does not go in, and nothing is published in part.

What the account can hold

The panoramas an account owns are limited by its plan: 250 on Free, 1,000 on Pro and 3,600 on Agency. Every running Vault adds its size to that. Going over never deletes anything: it stops new uploads.

Host a tour in your plan

Only the tour's owner can change where a tour is published, and plan hosting needs a plan that hosts (not Free).

  1. Open the tour, click Publish, then Hosting.
  2. Tick Host in my plan. The counter beside it reads, for example, 100 / 250 Used: the panoramas all your hosted tours use, out of what the plan hosts.
  3. Tick Published if visitors should be able to open the tour by its link. Leave it unticked to keep the tour private. To list the tour on Explore as well, tick Publish to Global Showcase on the Overview tab.
  4. Click Save Settings.

The box is gray when your plan does not host, or when the whole tour does not fit in what is left. A line under it says which, and how many panoramas there is room for.

What you see when a tour does not fit

Message What it means and what to do
Your plan does not include hosting. Host this tour in a Vault, or upgrade your plan. The plan hosts nothing (Free). Buy a Vault, or upgrade.
This tour has N panoramas and your plan hosts M more (up to X in total). What a refused save shows when there is not enough room left in plan hosting. Take another tour out of plan hosting, remove panoramas, or use a Vault.
This tour has N panoramas and your plan has room for M more. The line under the gray Host in my plan box: take another tour out of plan hosting, remove panoramas, or use a Vault.
Your plan lets you publish up to N tours on Explore and N are there already. Free publishing is full of tours. Take one off Explore, or host this tour.
This tour has N panoramas and publishing on Explore has room for M more. Free publishing is full of panoramas.
Hosting Limit Reached You tried to add panoramas to a tour in plan hosting or in free publishing, and the place it is in has no room.
Vault Full The tour is in a Vault and you tried to add more panoramas than it holds. Make the Vault bigger.

When a plan ends or gets smaller

Nothing is deleted. Tours that no longer fit in plan hosting (the newest first) fall back to free publishing: they stay online with Panoramr's branding, in their own design, with embeds still working. A tour that does not fit free publishing either becomes private, and you are told. Upgrade again and tick Host in my plan on the tour, or put the tour in a Vault, and it is hosted again.

Troubleshooting

Host in my plan is gray. Read the line under it. Either the plan hosts nothing, or the tour has more panoramas than there is room for.

The tour is hosted but visitors cannot open it. Tick Published on the Hosting tab and save. Plan hosting keeps a tour private until you publish it; a tour put in a Vault is published at once. Also check that Unpublish / Hide Tour is not ticked: while it is, visitors see a page that says the tour is paused.

I upgraded and the tour still shows Panoramr's branding. The tour is in free publishing. Tick Host in my plan and save, or put it in a Vault.

A tour I did not choose went private. It did not fit any more after your plan changed. See What happens when a Vault ends for the same rule applied to a Vault.
