API tokens: what the API Tokens card is and why it is off
The API Tokens card lets other software use your account with a token. It is switched off in My profile today; this says what it holds and what a token opens.

An API token is a long secret that other software sends in place of your password. Panoramr has the card that makes one, called API Tokens, but it is switched off: My profile does not show it, so nobody can make a token today. This page says what the card is for, so that you know what you are not missing and what a token would open if it is switched on.
Who can use it. Nobody at the moment. When the card is on, it is for any account whose email address is confirmed, on any plan.
What a token opens. Only one address, which returns your own account's record. No tour, panorama, hotspot or setting can be read or changed with a token. Other software cannot be connected to your tours through it. Panoramr has not tried it with an outside service.
The card
Token Name
A name that tells you what a token is for.
Where: the API Tokens card in My profile, when it is switched on. It is not shown today.
Default: Personal Access Token - and today's date.
What it does: Up to 255 characters. The name is only for you.
What visitors see: Nothing. Visitors to your tours never see this.
Needs: A confirmed email address, even where unconfirmed accounts can otherwise use the app.
Related: Create Token.
Create Token
Make the token.
Where: the button under Token Name, on the same card. It is not shown today.
Default: Not applicable.
What it does: Makes a token and shows it once, with the message API Token created successfully. Copy it now, it will only be shown once. The token opens only the one address described above, and it does not expire. The card does not list your tokens afterwards.
What visitors see: Nothing.
Needs: A name in Token Name.
Related: Set up two-factor authentication.
What ends a token
Every token you have is deleted when you change your password in My profile, when you reset a forgotten password, and when your account is deleted. A person who thinks someone else has their account does the first for this reason: see Fix sign-in problems.
Troubleshooting
I cannot find the API Tokens card. It is switched off. There is no setting that turns it on for one account.
I need other software to work with my tours. A token does not give that. Write to moc.rmaronap@tcatnoc and say what you want to connect.
