The short answer

Your photos, tiles, videos, logos and published tours are stored in one region. A new account starts in the region nearest the country it signed up from. You can see the region, and move your files to another one, on Data location in My Account. Moving is free, once every 30 days, your tours keep their addresses and embed codes, and you are emailed when it has finished.

Open the page

  1. Click your name or picture at the top right of the website (on a phone or a narrow window, the menu button), then My Account.
  2. Click Data location in the list of account pages. The page starts with Your files are stored in and the region.

The regions

Region City
Europe Amsterdam
United Kingdom London
United States New York
Asia-Pacific Singapore
Australia Sydney

A region marked Coming soon cannot be chosen yet. Hong Kong and the Middle East are not regions yet: Singapore is the nearest to Hong Kong.

Move your files

  1. On Data location, choose a region under Where should your files be stored?.
  2. Click Move my files and confirm.

Before you confirm, the page says how many panoramas you have and about how long they take to move: every photo is copied with all its tiles, so a large account can take an hour or more. An account with no files yet changes region at once. Otherwise the page shows how many files have moved, and you get an email when they have all arrived. Your tours keep working while the files move, but you cannot change them until the move has finished. If a move stops, your tours keep working, nothing is lost, and you can try again from the same page.

After a move has finished you can move your files again 30 days later. Until then the page says the date from which you can.

What stays where it is

  • Your account and billing details stay on our server in the UK and the EU, whatever region you choose.
  • The nightly backups of your tours are kept in Frankfurt (EU).
  • Emails go through Mailgun in the EU, and payments through Stripe.
  • Cloudflare keeps copies of your tours' pictures close to the people who look at them, so tours load fast everywhere.

So a region decides where your files are stored, not every place they pass through. The sub-processors page names each company and where it handles data.
