The short answer

A Free account builds as many draft tours as you like, and can put tours on Explore: up to 250 panoramas in up to 10 tours. A tour on Explore can also be embedded on other websites. Visitors get it in the free Default Theme, with the changes you made to it and with Panoramr's branding. The Pro themes are free to design with and preview, and show to visitors once the tour is hosted or the account is on a paid plan. The account holds 250 panoramas in all, and there is no limit on how many one tour holds. Hosting a tour without Panoramr's branding, in a Pro theme, and private or by link only, needs a plan or a Vault. The plan's name is Free.

What stays the same as on a paid plan

  • Draft tours. There is no limit on how many you make. A draft is private: it opens only for you and your collaborators.
  • The editor. The plan locks no tab. You build, design and preview with any theme, Pro ones included: the editor and the Preview tab always show your design as you made it.
  • Publishing on Explore. The Publish to Global Showcase box works on a Free account, within the totals above. See Share a tour.

What a Free account changes for visitors

  1. Your design, in a free theme. The public copy of a tour (its Explore page, its player address and an embed) shows your design while the tour wears a free theme, the Default Theme, and you can change its colours, menus and hotspot looks as you like. A tour that wears a Pro theme shows the free Default look instead until the tour is hosted or the account is on a paid plan: the settings a theme carries go back to their defaults, and the rest stays, such as the tour's groups and labels, its menu bar, its view limits and its languages (see What a theme carries). The Design tab and the Publish tab say so, naming the theme.
  2. Panoramr's branding. Panoramr's start screen and the round badge on the floor are shown, in an embed too. See Remove Panoramr branding.
  3. Other websites. A tour that is listed on Explore can be embedded on other websites: copy the Web Embed Code from the Publish tab. A tour that is not listed shows Tour not published there.
  4. Private tours. A tour that is not listed on Explore opens only for you and your collaborators. Everyone else sees Tour not published and This tour is private: its owner has not published it.
  5. Whole tours only. A tour is listed on Explore as a whole. If it does not fit in what is left of 250 panoramas and 10 tours, the box is refused with a line that says how much room there is. Visitors never get only the first scenes.
  6. English only. You can add languages to a tour and translate it, and see them in the editor and on the Preview tab. Visitors get the tour in English, with no language switch, until it is hosted or you are on a paid plan. See Translate a tour into other languages.

Hosting changes the first two points, the fourth and the sixth, for that tour. A tour in a Vault or in your plan's hosting shows no Panoramr branding, can wear a Pro theme, can be kept private or published by link only, and plays on other websites. A tour whose hosting has ended keeps its own design, a Pro theme included, and its embeds, and Panoramr's branding comes back: see What happens when a Vault ends.

Downloads and saved designs

  • Download. On the Publish tab, the download window offers Download free theme, which holds the Standard design with the Panoramr splash, logo and nadir, also for a tour that is in a Vault. Download my design is gray with the line Needs a Pro, Agency or Enterprise plan. Only a paid plan unlocks it: a Vault is hosting, not a download. See Download a tour as a ZIP and host it on your own server.
  • Saved designs. In the Design page's themes panel, under My Designs, a Free account sees Saving your own designs needs a paid plan. in place of the box to name and save one. Designs saved earlier stay in the list. A Vault does not count as a plan here.

Troubleshooting

My design shows in the editor, but visitors see the free Default look. The tour wears a Pro theme, has never been hosted, and your account is on a Free plan. Choose a free theme, put the tour in a Vault, or upgrade and tick Host in my plan. See My changes do not show for visitors if you did and the public copy has not changed.

Visitors on my website see Tour not published. The tour is not listed on Explore. Tick Publish to Global Showcase on the Publish tab and save, or host the tour and publish it from the Hosting tab.

The download says Downloading your own design is part of the Pro, Agency and Enterprise plans. A Vault is hosting and does not include it. Use Download free theme, or buy a Pro plan.

I cannot add a panorama. The account is at its limit, or the tour is in a place that has no room for more. The upload window says so first (You cannot upload any more panoramas to this tour based on your current limits.); a refusal from the server starts Storage Limit Reached (the account holds as many panoramas as its plan allows), Panorama Storage Full (the files take all the disk room the plan keeps), Hosting Limit Reached or Vault Full (the place the tour is in has no room). See Fix upload problems.

Host in my plan is gray. A Free plan hosts nothing. A line under the box says so. Buy a Vault for the tour, or upgrade.
