Pro themes and what visitors see on a Free plan

Which themes are Pro, who can use one in a published tour, and the free Default look that visitors get when a Free tour wears a Pro theme.

Every theme can be applied to every tour, on every plan, to design with and to preview. What differs is what visitors get: a tour that wears a Pro theme shows it to visitors only when the tour is hosted or its owner is on a paid plan. This page lists the four places the app tells you so. To pick and apply a theme, start with Choose a look for your tour: themes and My Designs.

Who can use a Pro theme in public. The owner's plan decides: Pro, Agency and Enterprise can. A tour that is hosted, or ever was, can too: a Vault or Free-plan hosting that has ended keeps the theme, and only Panoramr's branding comes back. A tour on a Free plan that has never been hosted cannot.

What a Free tour in a Pro theme shows visitors. The free Default look. The colors, fonts, glass effect, bars, hotspot looks and transitions that a theme carries go back to the Default Theme's, and everything else stays as you set it: your menu bar, panorama groups and labels, languages, view limits, autorotate and logos. The parts of the player that the theme switched on stay on. The Design tab, its preview and the Preview tab keep showing your theme. Embeds follow the same rule as the public page.

When visitors get a change. The moment the tour is hosted, or the account moves to a paid plan, visitors get the theme: the app keeps one stored page for each look, so there is no wait. With Draft Workflows the page you last published stays until you click Publish changes (My changes do not show for visitors).

Which themes are Pro

Pro tag

Each theme card in the Library (Design tab > Themes) has a tag, Pro or Free.

Where: the Themes panel (Design tab > Themes) in the Design tab, on each card of Theme library. Basic and Advanced view. Default: none; each theme is set by Panoramr's staff. The Default Theme is always Free, and so is any theme not marked Pro. What it does: Tells you whether visitors can see the theme on your plan. Most finished themes are Pro; the Default Theme never is. A design you saved under My designs counts as Pro for this rule. What visitors see: A Free theme shows to visitors on every plan. A Pro theme shows on a paid plan or a hosted tour; on a Free tour that has never been hosted they see the free Default look. Related: Choose a look for your tour, Free account.

For preview only on this tour

A line on a Pro card when this tour may not use Pro themes in public.

Where: the Themes panel (Design tab > Themes), on each Pro card. Basic and Advanced view. Default: none; it shows by itself. What it does: Says For preview only on this tour: visitors see the free Default look until it is hosted or you are on a Pro plan. It appears on every Pro card while the tour is not hosted and the account is on a Free plan, and is gone once either changes. The card's Apply button still works. What visitors see: The free Default look, as above. Needs: Nothing; to remove it, host the tour or move to a paid plan. Related: Host this tour, Vault hosting.

The notice that says what visitors get

Pro theme notice

A bar under the tabs of the Design tab, and a box on the Publish tab, that say visitors see the Default look.

Where: The bar is under the tab row of the Design tab (a guest's trial tour is not shown it). The box is on the tour's Publish tab, above the Web Embed Code. Basic and Advanced view. Default: none; it shows by itself while the tour wears a Pro theme, has never been hosted and its owner is on a Free plan. What it does: Reads <theme> is a Pro theme. Visitors, and embeds, see the free Default look until this tour is hosted or you are on a Pro plan. followed by This editor still shows <theme>. on the Design tab, or The editor and Preview still show <theme>. on the Publish tab. <theme> is the theme's name. What visitors see: The free Default look in the public page and in every embed. Related: Free publishing and plan hosting.

Host this tour

The link at the end of the notice.

Where: In the notice above, on the Design tab and on the Publish tab. Basic and Advanced view. Default: none. What it does: Opens the Hosting pane of the tour's Publish tab, where you can put the tour on a Vault or on your plan's hosting. What visitors see: Nothing changes until the tour is hosted. Then they get your own design. Related: Vault hosting.

Troubleshooting

My theme shows in the editor but visitors see something plainer. The theme is a Pro theme, the tour has never been hosted and the account is on a Free plan. Apply a Free theme, host the tour or move to a paid plan. If none of that fits, the stored copy may be older than your last change: press Save & Render (with Draft Workflows, then Publish changes).

The notice does not go away after I upgraded. Reload the Design tab: the notice is read when the page loads.

A free theme I changed also looks plain to visitors. It should not: a tour in the Default Theme, or any theme not marked Pro, shows visitors your own design on every plan. Check that the tag on the card you applied says Free.
