On this page

The Tour tab is the front page of a tour in the editor. It holds the tour's title, where it stands (draft or published), its link, category and description, its thumbnail, the list of its scenes, and the way to move the tour to the Trash. A tour opens on this tab from My Tours.

Who can use it. The owner, and any collaborator: every role can open the tab. Saving the details needs the same permission as the Settings tab, which is the owner's and, by default, an Admin collaborator's. A Viewer or Editor sees the fields but their change is refused. See What each tab in the tour editor does.

Basic and Advanced. The Basic view shows the title, status, description, thumbnail and scene list. The Advanced view adds Tour Link (Vanity URL), Showcase Category, Mark as featured tour and the Group and Date columns of the scene list.

When visitors get a change. Fields save as you leave them. The tour's public page is made again at once, unless the tour uses Draft Workflows: then visitors get the change after Publish changes (My changes do not show for visitors).

The tour's details

Tour title

The big field at the top is the tour's name.

Where: Top of the Tour tab. The field's name for screen readers is Tour title. Default: The name you gave in Create Tour, or the first photo's name. What it does: Saves when you click out of the field. It is the name in My Tours and on the tour's page. When the tour has other languages, the field holds the name in the language chosen in the Editing list above the tabs. It stops at 100 characters (our team can change the limit) and says Character limit reached (100 max). What visitors see: The tour's name. Needs: A name; an empty title is refused.

Status badge

A small badge under the title says where the tour stands.

Where: Under Tour title. What it does: It reads one of these, the first that applies:

Badge Meaning
Offline or On hold Our team has taken the tour down.
In a Vault (until <date>) The tour is in a running Vault and published.
In a Vault - Not published (until <date>) It is in a Vault but not published, so visitors cannot open it.
Published on explore It is on Explore.
In plan hosting It is in your plan's hosting and published.
In plan hosting - Not published It is in your plan's hosting but not published.
Draft None of those.

Hover a Vault badge for Hosted until and the date. What visitors see: Nothing; the badge is for you. Related: Vault hosting.

Views chip

A count of how many times the tour has been looked at.

Where: Next to the status badge, in the Basic view only (the Advanced view has the Analytics tab). What it does: Reads 1 view or 12 views. It appears when the tour has been seen at least once, is on Explore, or is hosted. Hover for Unique views of this tour. The Analytics tab, in the Advanced view, has the countries and the days. The Preview tab is not counted. Related: Tour analytics.

Save Changes

The button at the top right of the details.

Where: Right of Tour title. What it does: Saves every field of the details together. It reads Saving... while it works and Saved afterwards. You rarely need it, because each field also saves when you leave it, and shows a short Saved mark.

The last part of the tour's public address.

Where: Tour tab, left of Showcase Category. Advanced view. Default: The tour's name as a link, plus six random characters. What it does: Type letters, numbers and hyphens, up to 50. Spaces become hyphens, capitals become lowercase, and anything else is removed as you type. Another tour of the platform cannot already use it: the field says so if it does. An old link keeps working: Old links will automatically redirect. What visitors see: The tour at panoramr.com/explore/ followed by this link.

Showcase Category

The kind of place the tour shows.

Where: Tour tab, right of Tour Link (Vanity URL). Advanced view. Default: None (Select a category (Optional)). What it does: Choose one of Real Estate, Retail, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism, Education, Sports & Recreation, Art & Culture, Auto, Aviation & Marine, Gaming & CGI, Industrial, Medical, Nature or Miscellaneous. It is shown in My Tours under the tour's name and is the category the tour is listed under on Explore. What visitors see: The category on the tour's Explore page, which links to the tour's category on Explore.

Description

A few sentences about the tour.

Where: Tour tab, under the link and category. Default: Empty. What it does: Saves when you click out. It stops at 300 words (our team can change the limit); the counter under the field turns red at the limit and further words are cut off. With extra languages, it is the description in the language chosen in Editing. What visitors see: The description on the tour's Explore page (No description provided for this experiential tour. while it is empty).

The thumbnail

Change Thumbnail

Choose the picture that stands for the tour in lists and on Explore.

Where: Right of the details, under the picture, button Change Thumbnail. The picture is headed Custom Tour Thumbnail. Default: The tour's first scene. What it does: Opens Select Active Thumbnail, with your choices on the left and the picture on the right. Click Browse new image... to choose a file, or pick a scene from Or select from tour panoramas:: the scene opens in a 360 view, framed 3:2, where you drag to look around and scroll or pinch to zoom. Click Save Thumbnail: for a scene, the view you framed is made into a 1200 by 800 picture; a file you upload is scaled down to 800 pixels wide and saved as a JPEG, and the largest file allowed is 10 MB. Either becomes the tour's own picture, and Keep Last Uploaded Photo goes back to it. If saving fails, the window shows The thumbnail could not be saved. and why. What visitors see: The picture in My Tours, and where the tour is listed with a picture.

Puts the tour at the top of your public profile.

Where: Under Change Thumbnail. Advanced view. Default: Off. What it does: This tour will be listed at the top of your public profile. It saves as soon as you tick it.

The scenes

Add panoramas

The button at the top right of the tab opens the upload window for this tour.

Where: Top right, next to My Tours, which goes back to your tours. What it does: Adds photos to the tour, from your computer or your Asset library. If the plan cannot hold more photos it explains why. Details: Create your first tour in Panoramr.

Scenes table

The tour's scenes, in the order visitors meet them.

Where: Heading Panoramas, under the tour's media. What it does: Each row shows the picture, the name, a handle to drag the row and move buttons (for those who may edit panoramas). Dropping a row, or pressing a move button, saves the new order at once. Group (Advanced view) is a pill: click it to choose the scene's group, or Ungrouped; until the tour has groups the cell says No groups set up. Date (Advanced view) is when the scene was added. A scene that is still being prepared shows Syncing to Cloud.... A scene copied in by a collaborator shows Copying into the tour owner's library. The table shows 15 rows at a time; choose 30 or 50 per page under it. What visitors see: The order of the scenes in the tour's menus and next/previous buttons. Related: Organize a tour with panorama groups.

Scene actions

Three icons at the end of each row.

Where: The Actions column. What it does: Edit Panorama opens the scene on the Panoramas tab. Hotspots opens it on the Hotspots tab. Delete Panorama opens a window to take it out of this tour or delete it everywhere. The icons show only for roles that may use them. Related: Delete tours and panoramas, and get them back.

Trash (Deleted Panoramas)

Deleted scenes wait here, under the scene list, for a while.

Where: A red bar under Panoramas; it is there only when the tour has deleted scenes. Click it to open the list. What it does: Each row has a restore button (tooltip Restore) and, for roles that may delete panoramas, a button Permanently Delete. Deleting asks Delete this panorama for good? and says It is deleted now and cannot be brought back. On this tab it only takes the scene off this tour's list (Panorama removed from the tour.); the panorama stays in the Trash chip of the Media library, where you can restore it or delete it for good. A restore that would go over your plan's room opens a window that says why. Related: Delete tours and panoramas, and get them back.

Moving the tour to the Trash

Move this tour to the Trash

A link at the foot of the tab.

Where: Bottom right of the Tour tab, for people who may delete the tour (the owner, and an Admin if the owner allowed it). What it does: Asks Move this tour to the Trash?. The tour waits in the Trash until you delete it for good, and its scenes stay in your library. A tour in a Vault first asks what the Vault does next. On a guest's trial tour the link reads Delete this tour and deletes it. Related: Delete tours and panoramas, and get them back.

Troubleshooting

My change to the title did not stick. Only the owner and Admin collaborators can save these fields; an Editor or Viewer's change is refused. Ask the owner for the Admin role.

The link says it is taken. Another tour already uses it. Add a word or a number.

A row says Not published. On a tour in a Vault, scenes beyond what the Vault holds are not published; the table marks the first one with a notice.
