Preview a tour as visitors will see it

The Preview tab shows your tour at computer, tablet and phone size with your latest edits: what it shows, what it leaves out and who can open it.

On this page

The Preview tab shows your tour in the player, at the size of a computer, a tablet or a phone, as you have it in the editor right now. It is for checking a tour before you share it. Use it to click through the rooms, open the hotspots and see the Intro page.

Who can use it. The owner and every collaborator: a Viewer, an Editor and an Admin can all open the tab, on any plan. The owner can hide the tab from a role on the Client Workspaces page, but the page still opens for anyone on the tour at its address (Choose what Viewers, Editors and Admins can open).

Basic and Advanced. The tab is in both views, with the same controls.

What it shows. The tour as it is in the editor, not what visitors have. With Draft Workflows on, an edit you have not published appears here and visitors do not see it until you click Publish changes. The Preview tab never counts as a view in Analytics. A tour that is a draft, hidden or protected by a password opens here without asking for anything.

What the tab has

Device view

Shows the tour at a computer's, a tablet's or a phone's size.

Where: Preview tab (Preview tab), three buttons in the box under the tab row: Desktop View, Tablet View and Mobile View. Basic and Advanced view. Default: Desktop View What it does: Desktop View makes the tour as wide as the page, at a ratio of 16 to 10 and never taller than the window less 60 pixels. Tablet View makes it 768 pixels wide and 1024 high. Mobile View makes it 375 wide and 812 high. The tour reacts to the width as it would on that device, so the phone's own bars appear in Mobile View. What visitors see: Nothing changes. This is only how you look at the tour. A visitor on a real device gets the layout their screen asks for. Related: The Design tab, Mobile navigation.

The tour

The tour itself, in a frame that you can click through like a visitor.

Where: Preview tab (Preview tab), the large frame under the buttons. Basic and Advanced view. Default: Opens on the first room, or on the room in the page's address if it has #pano= and a room's number. What it does: Loads the tour's page with editor=true, so it leaves out Panoramr's branding on a free plan and shows the design you have in the editor, including a Pro theme that visitors would see only with hosting. The Intro page shows here when it is switched on, as a visitor gets it, every time the page loads. As you move between rooms, the address of the Preview page gets #pano= and the room's number, so reloading the page returns you to the same room. The frame is loaded again each time you open the tab: it does not follow edits made in another tab. What visitors see: Not applicable: visitors see the published tour at its own address. Needs: At least one panorama. Related: My changes do not show for visitors.

No panoramas message

Says why the frame is empty.

Where: Preview tab (Preview tab), in the place of the frame. Basic and Advanced view. Default: Not shown. What it does: A tour with no panoramas shows No panoramas found. Please add panoramas first. instead of the tour. Add panoramas on the Tour or Panoramas tab and open the tab again. What visitors see: Not applicable.

My Tours

Goes back to the list of your tours.

Where: Preview tab (Preview tab), a button at the right of the page header. Not shown on a free trial guest tour. Basic and Advanced view. Default: Not applicable. What it does: Opens My Tours. What visitors see: Nothing.

What the Preview does not do

  • It does not take the place of looking at the published tour. Open the tour's own link to see exactly what a visitor gets, including the Pro theme rule: a tour in a Pro theme that is not hosted shows visitors the free Default look (Pro themes).
  • It does not check a headset, a real phone's sensors or full screen. The frame allows full screen, VR and motion sensors, but the page has not been tried on those devices.

Troubleshooting

The frame is black or empty. The tour has no panorama, or the first one is still being processed. Add panoramas, let the upload finish, and reload the page.

My edit is not in the preview. The frame loads when you open the tab. Reload the page. Edits you made in the Design tab and not saved are not in the Preview; save first with Save & Render.

The Intro page does not appear. It shows only when the Intro page panel is switched on in the Design tab and saved. See Intro page.

Visitors see something different. They see the published version: see My changes do not show for visitors.
