The Settings tab: languages, groups, sharing and the Trash

Every card of a tour's Settings tab: languages, Draft Workflows, panorama groups, collaborators and the Danger Zone, and who can use each.

On this page

The Settings tab holds the settings that are about the whole tour rather than its look: the extra languages, whether edits wait for you to publish them, the groups you sort panoramas into, the people you share the tour with, and the way to move it to the Trash.

Who can use it. The owner, and a collaborator whose role includes the Settings Tab: by default an Admin. Someone without it who opens the address is sent to My Tours with the message You do not have permission to manage this tour's settings. Two cards are narrower: Project Collaborators is the owner's only, and the Danger Zone shows only to someone who may delete the tour. Every plan has the tab.

Basic and Advanced. The tab is in the Advanced view only. In Basic it is not in the row, but a link to it (the three-dot menu of a tour in My Tours, an invitation) opens it, and Move this tour to the Trash is at the foot of the Tour tab.

When visitors get a change. A change you save here reaches visitors at once, unless the tour uses Draft Workflows: then they get it after Publish changes.

The name, description and theme are not here. Change the tour's name and description on the Tour tab, and its look in the Design tab's Themes panel (Themes and My designs).

Save the page

Save Properties

Saves the Draft Workflows box. Everything else on the page saves at once.

Where: Settings tab (Settings tab), the blue button at the top right of the page. Advanced view. Default: Not applicable. What it does: Sends the page's fields to the tour. The button says Saving... while it works. Adding or removing a language, adding, renaming, moving or removing a group, choosing a group's Part of, changing Ungrouped Items Label, and moving a group's panoramas save at once, without waiting for the button. Saving needs the Settings Tab. A change to the Draft Workflows box is kept only when you click this button. What visitors see: The saved languages and groups, on their next visit (with Draft Workflows, after Publish changes). Related: Edit a tour's details on the Tour tab.

Tour Languages

Language to add

Adds a language the tour can be written in.

Where: Settings tab (Settings tab), card Tour Languages: the list Select language... and the Add button. Advanced view. Default: No extra language: the card says English (Default) is currently the only active language. Once you add one, the list shows English (Default), marked Native, above it. What it does: Adds the language to the tour at once and puts it in the Editing list above the tabs, where you choose which language you are writing. The list offers the languages the player is made in. A language cannot be added twice. What visitors see: The tour in that language, once you have written it. On a free tour that was never hosted, visitors see English until the tour is hosted or you are on a paid plan, and a line on this card says so with a link to the plans. See Make a tour in several languages. Needs: Nothing else; you can add languages, translate and preview them on any plan.

Languages in use

Takes a language off the tour.

Where: Settings tab (Settings tab), card Tour Languages, the list under the box. Advanced view. Default: Shows only English until you add one. What it does: Remove asks Turn this language off? and then switches the language off at once. What you wrote for it is kept, but it cannot be edited and visitors do not see it. If it was the language the editor was set to, the editor goes back to English. What visitors see: The language disappears from the tour.

Publishing Strategy

Enable Draft Workflows

Holds your edits back until you publish them.

Where: Settings tab (Settings tab), card Publishing Strategy. Advanced view. Default: Off. What it does: With it on, visitors keep the version you last published while you edit, and a Publish changes button appears above the tabs. With it off, saves reach visitors at once. The box takes effect when you click Save Properties. On a free trial tour the card is greyed out with Publishing is not available on the trial. Create a free account to use it. What visitors see: The published version until you click Publish changes. Related: Hold back edits until you publish them.

The Trash

Move to Trash

Moves the whole tour and its panoramas to the Trash.

Where: Settings tab (Settings tab), card Danger Zone. Advanced view. The card shows to the owner, and to an Admin only when you have ticked Enable deleting the tour on the Client Workspaces page. Default: Not applicable. What it does: Asks Move this tour to the Trash? and moves the tour. It stays in the Trash until you delete it for good, so you can restore it from there; only the owner can restore it. A tour in a Vault opens a window first, asking what the Vault does next. On a free trial tour the button reads Delete tour and deletes the tour for good, and the trial starts again. What visitors see: The tour is no longer available. Related: Deleting tours and recovering them, Choose what Viewers, Editors and Admins can open.

Panorama Groups

Panorama Groups

Makes the labels you sort panoramas into.

Where: Settings tab (Settings tab), card Panorama Groups: a box e.g. Ground Floor, Bedrooms... with Add, and the list of groups with ↑ and ↓, Part of:, Edit and Remove. Advanced view. Default: No groups. What it does: Add creates a group and saves at once. Edit renames it, and the new name goes with the panoramas that had it. Remove asks first, says how many panoramas it is on, and takes the group off them. The ↑ and ↓ buttons change the order visitors see, and Part of: puts a group under another one (Part of); both save at once. When the editor is set to another language the buttons read Translate and you can only write the group's name in that language; adding and removing is for English. You assign a group to a panorama on the Panoramas tab. What visitors see: The groups as headings where the tour's menus and lists use them. Related: Organize panoramas into groups.

Ungrouped Items Label

Names the heading for panoramas that are in no group.

Where: Settings tab (Settings tab), card Panorama Groups. Advanced view. Default: Other Panoramas What it does: Sets the folder name for panoramas not assigned to a group. In another language the box holds the label for that language, and shows the English one as a hint. It saves when you leave the box after a change, with a green line and a tick. What visitors see: That name as the heading above the ungrouped panoramas.

Sharing

Project Collaborators

Invites people to work on this tour.

Where: Settings tab (Settings tab), card Project Collaborators. Advanced view. The owner only; greyed out on a free trial tour. Default: The tour is private and shared with nobody. What it does: Type an Email Address, choose an Access Level (Viewer, Editor or Admin) and click Share. Active People lists who has access, with a list to change a role and buttons to offer the tour to them or remove them; Pending Invitations lists invitations waiting for an account. Everything about roles, limits and what each person can open is on Invite collaborators to a tour and set their role. The card also holds the Hand over to a client box when Vaults are on sale. What visitors see: Nothing. Collaborators work in the editor; the published tour is the same for everyone. Related: Transfer a tour, Hand a tour over to a client.

Take Ownership

Accepts a tour that its creator has offered to you.

Where: Settings tab (Settings tab), card Accept Tour Ownership. It shows only to the person the tour was offered to. Default: Not shown. What it does: Take Ownership asks Take ownership of this tour?, and when you accept, you become the owner and the former owner becomes an Admin. The tour's files are moved into your account, which can take a few minutes for a big tour, and the tour cannot be changed while they move. The tab is open to a person with a pending transfer even if their role has no Settings tab. What visitors see: Nothing. Related: Transfer a tour.

Troubleshooting

The Settings tab is missing. You are in the Basic view, or your role does not include it. Switch to Advanced with the switch at the right end of the tab row.

I ticked Enable Draft Workflows and nothing changed. Click Save Properties. The row above the tabs changes only after the save.

The language I added does not show for visitors. On a free tour that was never hosted, visitors see English: see Language to add. Also write the texts in the language, and open the tour once with it.

There is no Danger Zone. Only the owner, or an Admin with Enable deleting the tour ticked, has it.

Save Properties answers with an error. The tour has no name in the language the Editing list is set to. Give it one on the Tour tab.
