Post a 360 photo on Panoramr: where the create page is, what each field does, who can post, and how to edit or delete a post.

The short answer

To post a 360 photo, open My Panoramrs from the account menu, click Upload New Panoramr, choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP that is about twice as wide as it is tall, fill in the details and click Share. The post is public at once: there is no draft or private setting.

Who can post

  • A confirmed email address. While the grace lasts the page opens but the upload is refused, and the page shows only Upload Failed. Please try again. Once the amber bar says Your email address is not confirmed yet., even My Panoramrs sends you to Check your inbox. A free-trial guest account cannot post. See Sign up and confirm your email.
  • Room on your account. The photo counts as one panorama. An account holds 250 on Free, 1,000 on Pro and 3,600 on Agency, plus the size of each Vault it has running. At the limit the page shows You have hit your global storage limit of N panoramas. Please upgrade your subscription or delete old panoramas to upload more. Choose another image does not help: delete old panoramas, or see Plans and limits.

Open the create page

  1. Signed in, click your name or picture at the top right of the website (on a narrow screen, the menu button), then My Panoramrs.
  2. Click Upload New Panoramr. The create page opens at app.panoramr.com/my-panoramrs/create, headed New Post.

The + button in the bottom bar of the social feed, and of the Explore pages on a phone, opens the same page.

Fill in the post

  1. Click Select Image and choose one JPEG, PNG or WebP of up to 100,000 KB (about 100 MB), whose width divided by its height is from 1.9 to 2.1 and that is at most 16,384 pixels wide. The upload starts at once.
  2. When the picture appears, drag it to look around and click Set Initial View to save what you see as the view visitors start in. It reads Saved for two seconds.
  3. Title (optional, up to 255 characters) also names the panorama in your library. Without one it is called Mobile Upload and the post shows Untitled Panorama.
  4. Search Location (optional): type at least two characters and click a result. A name you type but do not pick is shown as plain text, with no place page. Clear the box to take a place off.
  5. To drop a pin yourself, click the pin button beside the box (on a phone it reads Pin on Map; on a wider screen it is an icon with the tooltip Open Map to Set Location). In the Pinpoint Location window search an address or click the map, then click Save Coordinates. That map is Google Maps while Panoramr's monthly allowance of Google's maps lasts, and OpenFreeMap, which is built on OpenStreetMap data, after that.
  6. Caption (optional, up to 1,000 characters): a word that starts with # becomes a tag.
  7. Category (optional): one of 13, from Real Estate to Miscellaneous.
  8. Click Share at the top right or Share Post at the bottom. The website opens the post's page.
Button below the location box Shown when Lists
Places near where this was taken The server found a position in your JPEG Up to 8 businesses and landmarks within 300 m of it, businesses first
Places near me now Your browser offers location, and the button above is not shown Places near you now, not where the photo was taken

The photo's own position is never shown: see What Panoramr keeps about your photos.

What visitors see

Anyone with the address can open the post. The website's page, www.panoramr.com/explore/p-<number>, shows the picture with the title, category, caption, counts and a Report button. The social site's page adds the place, tags and comments. The post is listed on Explore, in the social feed and on your profile.

Edit or delete a post

  1. Open My Panoramrs and click the post.
  2. To change it, click Edit Details, change the fields and click Save. Latitude and Longitude can be typed here. Set Initial View on this page saves at once.
  3. To delete it, click Delete Post in the Danger Zone and confirm Are you sure you want to delete this panoramr? This action cannot be undone.

A delete removes the post, its likes and comments. The panorama goes too, unless a tour or another post uses it: its files are removed at once, and its entry stays in the Trash tab of your Asset Library for 30 days, with no picture. The Danger Zone text says the media will remain in your asset library. That is not so when the post was the panorama's only use. Deleting the panorama instead hides the post from the feeds and profiles while it is in the Trash: see Delete tours and panoramas.

Troubleshooting

You see What it means and what to do
That does not look like a 360° panorama: it is W × H, and a panorama is twice as wide as it is tall. Choose the full 360° photo your camera or app made. W and H are your file's size: its width divided by its height is outside 1.9 to 2.1. Click Choose another image.
We could not read that image. Export it again as a JPEG, PNG or WebP and try again. The server could not follow the file to its end. Export it again.
Choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP photo. The file is another type, such as a TIFF or HEIC. Export it as a JPEG.
That photo is larger than the 100 MB we can take. The file is over 100,000 KB. Export a smaller file.
That photo is W × H, larger than the 16384 × 8192 we can take. Export it at 16384 pixels wide or less and try again. The photo is wider than 16,384 pixels. Click Choose another image and export it smaller.
Waiting for a connection… The connection dropped. The photo is sent in pieces and the page tries again by itself; if it gives up, Retry Upload carries on from the piece that did not arrive.
Leaving the page will cancel the upload. Are you sure you want to cancel? You are leaving while the photo is still being sent. Stay until it has gone.
Upload Failed. Please try again. and Retry Upload The page has no reason to show. An unconfirmed email address, more than 10 uploads a minute or 60 an hour, or a dropped connection gives this.
Share stops and no post appears A title over 255 characters or a caption over 1,000 is refused, with no message. Shorten it.
Leaving the page will cancel the upload and delete the images. Are you sure you want to cancel? You clicked Cancel or left the page after the upload. There is no button to swap the picture: cancel and start again.
Building 3D VR..., or no picture right after Share The server is still making its copies. On the social site the page checks again every few seconds and shows the picture when it is ready (after ten minutes it stops: reload). On the website's page right after Share there is no such check: wait a minute and reload. After an hour it is made again once. If it is still unfinished an hour after that, it is marked failed and you see We could not prepare this photo. Click Try again: Panoramr makes the copies again from the original it kept, without sending the photo again. Only if that says This photo can no longer be prepared. Please upload it again. do you upload it again.
Please select an image to upload first. You clicked Share with no picture on the page. Choose one, or Choose another image.
